Kalo Dungar is a historical place in Kutch, Gujarat. Kalo Dungar is a beautiful place situated in the district of Kutch, Gujarat. It is also called “Black Hill” and has got its name from the black rocks that are found on this hill. It is situated at a height of about 792 meters and has a commanding view over the Rann Utsav of Kutch. We came out of Tent City to take the car and go to Kalo Dungar. This place was once used as a watchtower by the army to keep an eye on invaders coming from Sindh. History says that it was built around the 12th century AD when Raja Karan Dev ruled this part of India (now known as Gujarat). Black hill is famous for the 450-year-old Dattatreya Mandir.
The best time to visit this place is between October-March because, during the summer season, there are chances of getting stranded due to bad weather conditions. There are many tourist spots nearby so one can enjoy this trip with friends or family members while being out here in Kalo Dungar.
