The Great Rann of Kutch is a regular salt swamp situated in the Thar Desert in the Kutch District of Gujarat, India and the Sindh territory of Pakistan. It is around 7,505.22 square kilometers (2,897.78 sq mi) in size and is rumored to be the biggest salt forsake in the world.[1] This territory has been possessed by the Kutchi people.
The name “Rann” originates from the Hindi word ran (रण) signifying “desert”. The Hindi word is gotten from Sanskrit/Vedic word iriṇa (इरिण) confirmed in the Rigveda and Mahābhārata.
